Colombia Guide

Our wedding is taking place in the beautiful region of Antioquia! Whether you are looking for a green urban jungle, quiet country-side stays, or local life in a pueblito, Antioquia has it all.

Medellin

Medellin is the second largest city in Colombia and the capital of the department of Antioquia. Medellin was once known to be one of the most dangerous cities in the world, but has vastly and rapidly transformed into a safe, tourist-friendly and luxurious travel destination. Medellin prides itself as a city of culture - wonderful museums, local fashion brands, delicious restaurants and beautifully green neighborhoods. There are activities for travelers of all ages to enjoy.

Guatape

Located 2 hours from the city of Medellin, Guatape is town located on a man-made lake and most famous for it's "Piedra del Penol" a huge rock with over 700 steps to the very top and a panoramic view of the area. Whether you go for a ride in a tuk-tuk or a chivita, take a boat ride on the lake, or stroll the colorful streets of the town, there is plenty of activities as well as beautiful hotels and boutique hotels for a relaxing night (after climbing all 700+ stairs).

Greater Antioquia

Greater Antioquia is full of beautiful mountains, fincas (farms), and pueblitos. Day trips or overnight stays in boutique hotels mini-resorts or fincas are a wonderful way to experience tranquil local life. There are several nearby pueblos such as El Retiro, Jardin, Santa Elena, and Guatape.

Two Travel is happy to help arrange any trips to these areas outside of the city of Medellin.

Colombia Safety

No des Papaya!! As previously mentioned, Medellin and Colombia are safe for travel, although we encourage our guests to exercise caution as you should in any travel destination. Here are a few tips to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable trip!

Leave Luxury Valuables at Home

Watch Your Drinks

Do Not Use Dating Apps

Thieves have an eye for shiny gold accessories and watches. It is advised to leave at home all high-value necklaces, chains, watches and designer bags.

Never accept any drinks from strangers, keep an eye on your drinks in busy bars or clubs and never accept an invite to unknown places from strangers.

We highly advise you to not use dating apps at all while in Colombia and especially in Medellin.
